Yesterday had dinner at Sri Siam with sis and family, to celebrate my niece Ade's birthday. My initial reaction to the restaurant was that it had a slight "cockroach-chy smell". We looked at the menu and debated what to order, but both myself and my nieces agreed that we will be ordering "Tam Tim Grob", which is water chestnuts in santan and sirap for dessert.
The service, especially from the lady who did the ordering was not that good. We didn't want the peanuts they served, then she asked rather rudely whether we want the 3 small plates of chilli sauce, which they also "charge". She was asked to leave 2 of them.
Of the food that we ordered, this was the one we liked most. It's actually fried squid, but it was cut into small pieces, and very crunchy.
This is sambal-fried asparagus. Not bad.
The hot-plate beef was quite juicy, but a tad sweet though.
The pineapple fried rice was pretty good, probably because we were still hungry. Notice the almost empty fried squid plate at the back ? Hehe....
Their fried mee is basically using maggi mee and frying it with prawns and chicken. I think some of the mamak's fried maggi actually taste better !
The otak-otak that we ordered. Not so good....
The signature dish of any Thai restaurant will be their tomyam. So how does Sri Siam's tomyam taste ? Well, by the end of the meal, the soup in my bowl probably went down oni 1 cm. Yes, the soup was yucky, because it has a weird taste ! Doesn't taste nice at all.
However, their Tam Tim Grob dessert taste pretty good. It would be tastier if they added some nangka into it. Whole meal cost RM200+. Conclusion ? First and last visit.....
